Justin Theroux Regrets Keeping His Wedding to Jennifer Aniston Secret

Oops! Justin Theroux revealed that he regrets keeping his wedding to Jennifer Aniston a secret from so many of his guests while he was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Oct. 14.

“Well, it was actually a massive miscalculation,” The Leftovers star, 44, told host Ellen DeGeneres of only informing half the guests of the real reason for the party. Many of the guests were under the impression they were attending a birthday fete instead.

Only after the surprise nuptials did the couple understand that it might not have been the best idea. “Afterwards we kinda realized it was a terrible plan. You’re basically telling half your guests, ‘You’re unemployed and we can’t trust you,’ which is of course not the case,” Theroux said.

DeGeneres, 57, who attended the nuptials (and knew ahead of time it was a wedding) said it was easy to figure out who thought the event was a birthday party instead. “You could spot the ones there that didn’t know [because they] were in flip-flops and jeans,” she said, jokingly.

Despite the secrecy, Theroux says being married is wonderful and he delights in calling the Friends alum, 46, his wife now. “The first couple days of doing it, it’s a great feeling,” he told DeGeneres. “Fiance sounds cute at first, then you go, ‘eh.’ Then you get to say, ‘my wife.'”
